Review of Dead Like Me: Life After Death (2009) by Eric H — 14 Mar 2009
I'm really not sure how I feel about this movie. While I really enjoy seeing these characters again and how their lives have advanced, it's a bit strange with Mandy Patinkin not on board and a new actress playing Daisy.
Overall, the story is typical of the series, but with a smaller focus on the black comedy aspects and more of a serious tone. What I really enjoyed was the expanded focus on George's sister, Reggie, despite a slightly weak subplot involving a secret love affair.
She's really grown up and it made sense for the purveyors of the story to have she and George reconnect at an age where she's better equipped to handle. I just wish they had referenced the events of the last episode instead of (seemingly) lazily ignoring it.
If you were a fan of the series you'll probably like it despite some changes...and be hoping the series gets picked up again.
