Review of Dead Calm (1989) by Darrell H — 03 Sep 2008
I like films with actors that go on to big glory, to see them when they are more worried about acting than about being a star. This a quite good little thriller, with a pretty satisfying ending. Director Noyce would go on to become a Hollywood heavy, as well, of course, as Kidman, but this early piece has the earnest feel to it that they were trying to do something besides get a paycheck or market themselves.
