Genuinely inventive in many ways, it's easy to forgive the big plot issues and bad acting. If it were made today, I would give it a C- but the fact that it was made in 1981 before many of it's cliched elements were cliche makes me give it a B+.
Fun movie. And Stan Winston did the make up effects. RIP.
