Review of Dead & Buried (1981) by Miss.gory R — 27 Apr 2008
First of all I'd like to point out how silly this is to be banned in any country. It's a good horror tale, and it does have some blood, and a muchly talked about "needle in the eye" scene but it's far from exploitive and I've seen far worse in films that aren't banned. This is less graphic than "Alien" for example, and not quite as good...but c'mon we're talking about "Alien"! I'm just sad this doesn't have a bigger reputation for you don't find many like this one.
Anyhow that being said, this is a creative little horror flick which takes place in a little town. It seems that visitors and poor folks keep dying in strange ways. Even stranger is that later on they turn up running businesses and in other areas of town alive. It's very much a who-dunnit and a cute resolution it has as well which of course I shant ruin for you.
This does have some great scenes and some things you likely won't see coming (at least I didn't) and there is some blood and some creepy stuff too. I do like the originality here and it was definitely cleverly put together and acted out. Definitely a fun film to check out that doesn't get talked about a heck of a lot, but it deserves some more hype.
