Review of DC Super Hero Girls: Hero of the Year (2016) by Matthew D — 27 May 2018
Turning the DC universe into a school might not have worked, but a thorough knowledge of the comics is clearly on display and the result is a very clever conversion. Maintaining the feel of the webseries while slowing down enough to fit the feature length runtime, the writing is smart and funny enough to appeal outside its demographic.
The plot doesn't show the same creativity and the early parts overwhelm with the numerous characters, each with a different plot thread, but it means they all get a little development and they dovetail satisfactorily towards the end.
