Review of Dazed and Confused (1993) by Nicolette H — 10 May 2016
So this & Boyhood are the only movies I sadly have only seen by Richard Linklater ?? So not completely familiar with his style. But he definitely has very original writing which I enjoy! Dazed & Confused feels like you are watching a 70's style American Graffiti except with more drugs & alcohol.
Not your typical coming of age story. This movie follows around a group of teens on a Friday night. Reminded me of my old "hanging out" days trying to find something to do lol. While I enjoyed the way the story is told, jumping from character to character, I can see people making an argument that it really has no story.
It might be a little true but I still loved it. The story may not go anywhere & is sorta anticlimactic, BUT the script is special & unique. The characters are real & well crafted. I didn't grow up in the 70's but I felt it really captured what it was like.
I truly felt that I was transported to that time, just hanging out with a bunch of friends looking for something to do on a Friday night, getting high & drinking beer. ?? Enjoy popping this in from time to time.
"Alright alright alright. Just gotta keep living man, L-I-V-I-N" ?? o & of course, GREAT soundtrack!
