Review of Dazed and Confused (1993) by Robert R — 31 Oct 2018
One of the very few quintessential coming-of-age comedies, honestly. There's "American Pie," there's "Superbad," and then there's this. Richard Linklater achieves everything that this movie needed to have on lock.
You get an almost uncanny evocation of the time period and atmosphere. You get an unending slew of hilariously quotable bits, scenes, and sequences. And you get an immersive environment of cliques, classes, and castes, all mingling and intertwining with one another throughout a story that does nothing else but hearken back to the good ol' days of high school yore.
It doesn't get much better than movies like this and I regret having not seen it for so long.
