Review of Days of Wine and Roses (1963) by Alec B — 18 Aug 2010
The performances are great, Jack Lemmon's breakdown scene in the greenhouse is pretty powerful stuff. However what does annoy me is that film's only point its trying to make is 'alcoholism is bad'.
I give it props for creating real characters but about half way through the movie it stops being about them and becomes a 'what not to do' story.
