Review of Days of Thunder (1990) by Ric R — 28 Apr 2010
A young Tom Cruise wants to enter the world of Nascar but has to prove himself before he can get a ride. Being the rookie in the field other drivers think he will be an easy target but Cole Trickle has other ideas.
After a few incidents at the beginning of the season Cole becomes a hot favourite to win races. Building a healthy rivalry with Rowdy Burns played by Michael Rooker there are some great action seens on the track, rubbing is racing! Then a massive accident looks like ending Cole's career.
Cole meets future wife Nicole Kidman while being treated in hospital and backs a full return to the track only to be confronted with a new rival Russ Wheeler who was standing in for him while he was away.
With the usual happy hollywood ending and a great sound track to boot this is a fun film which I enjoy every time I watch it.
