Review of Best of the Best (1989) by Shane J — 13 Sep 2010
As a kid I thought this movie was something good, now, it seems really awful & more of a guilty pleasure.
Eric Roberts, sports a hybrid of a mullet & bad hair cut. Zero backstory with his character & how he got into karate.
The token Asian dude is there cos the "villain" of the movie is asian too, so, they want an actor to sell the karate to the audience during typical fight montage & the final fight.
The final half of the movie takes place in some sort of arena, but there are no people there. Look in the back of the shots, nobody is there!
This movie is really bad & has nothing but musical montages. The only thing I can take away from this movie is the part in the bar when the Asian guy kicks the cigarette out some guys mouth.
