Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Ojas V — 25 Mar 2008
Very beautiful cinematography, mixed with a thin love story, and a slow pace. You really get a feeling of the expansiveness of the Midwest, and how easy it is to escape your problems in fields of thick gold.
Eventually mankind turns on itself, and wears out its welcome. Sure Terrence Malick has a problem keeping his films moving along, but at 93 minutes, it doesn't wear out its welcome too much. The characters are not as developed as they could have been.
Watch this on a big screen, otherwise you really will not have seen this film.
