Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by James J — 02 Aug 2010
Terrence Malick is pretty sweet. The cinematography here is nothing short of jaw-dropping, and among the best I've seen. The sound design is incredible. Technically, this film is spot-on. As far as the storyline goes, the premise is simple but conveyed as naturally as possible.
Nature plays a huge role in the film. The performances are real. The first half is really good, but the second half of the second act is downright incredible. I think the film tapers a little right near the end, but it resolves nicely.
This is a must-see.
