Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Andrew S — 09 Jan 2013
Often cited as some of Terrence Malick's greatest work, "Days of Heaven" stands as an American classic, an hour and a half long romance set in the poor conditions of Texan fields teeming with disenfranchised workers.
Every single shot could be framed and hung on a wall as artwork, the whispery narratives are as philosophical as always and is captured to feel extremely lively and realistic. Of course, it's somewhat brief runtime seems at least double it's length, as most of this motion picture is incredibly boring.
I'd still recommend it to anyone with an interest in art-house films, but aside from that I was not too blown away by the real substance of this pretty picture.
