I watched this French film (original title Indigenes) yesterday and it was brilliant. I was totally unaware of the part played by Algerian and other French Africans during World War II and it was amazing how these people who had never even been to France before, but thought of it as the Motherland, fought and died for another country that had previously "pacified" them.
It was also terrible how they were treated by the French and their war pensions withheld until Chirac was shamed into it by this film. Well worth watching!
