Review of Days of Glory (2006) by Lyndon G — 30 Dec 2009
The genre and topic on their own really don't appeal to me, but I know this part of history is under-recognized, and the movie actually makes an emotional case that is sympathetic and not soppy. The ending, uh, feels tacked on, but having sat through the whole bloody thing, I felt a moviegoer's gratitude for this evenhanded (though fictionalized) story of North African soldiers terribly exploited by the French military in WWII.
