Review of Days of Glory (2006) by Geoff P — 15 Sep 2008
It's English title is such a misnomer, the French version being right on the nose. The Indigenes were Arab and African recruits to the French army during the Second World War, and many were proud to help their imperial 'homeland' in throwing out the Nazi occupier. However, they are dealt with prejudice, lies and inequality, the exact reasons they joined up to be rid of, by their French superiors.
Superb cast and part of the recent batch of realistic war films, the main bulk of which has been non-European in make and scope.
