Review of Daybreakers (2010) by David M — 25 May 2013
At the time of this movie's release, Twilight was in full swing. I was skeptical and hesitant at watching and vampire related movies. After watching this film, I can say I have no regrets. Daybreakers easily tops my list as my all time favorite vampire flick.
Rather then being an overly violent action/horror movie, Daybreakers relies on its ingenious originality, daring ambition, and provocative themes to catch the attention of the audience. Don't get me wrong, this film is plenty gruesome and includes a shmorgishborg of appalling violence that's as shocking as it is enjoyable.
And while this clearly isn't a horror movie, Daybreakers does have some extraordinary effects that adds to its well written script and great acting. In short, this inventive wild ride may not be as scary as some more recent horror flicks but its still bloody enough to be a vampire frenzy of fun.
