Roger Ebert, Joe Bob Briggs, and Pseudonym.
First off; screw Roger, Joe, and Whoever the hell I am. Let's all congratulate Miss Camille Keaton. A dedicated actress, who did what her director asked of her. Without her, none of us would be here. In 1978 she won Best Actress for her Role in this film, at the Catalonian International Film Festival. Whatever that means to you? Anyways.
Ebert basically says to hell with this movie. Briggs basically says Zarchi should have re-edited Jennifers revenge. I think making a film is one hell of a task to take on. Now according to Meir Zarchi he was hunting; or some sh!t, and came across a naked woman in the woods. She had been raped, so he helped her. When he decided to make his first feature film, he made it about her. Her Experience, and what he wished she could have done about it. It made up for a hard to watch film, that taps into the darkest parts of all of our minds. Ebert makes valid points, but Briggs makes valid points about filmmaking. I think Zarchi was out to make art, and ending up with something Ebert "a very strong voice in in the world of film" could label as a fart. Whatever it is, 60% of the film is dedicated to Jennifers rape. While 40% is dedicated to her revenge. As far as that's concerned. I'm in total agreement with Sarah Butler's Jennifer Hill, in the Meir Zarchi produced remake of I Spit On Your Grave.
Butler's Jennifer starts her physical revenge with the same victim she did in the Orginal; Matthew, brilliantly played by Chad Lindberg in the remake. The thing about Matthew is that he's mentally ill. He cant comprehend things like people who are smart enough to read movie reviews. Butler's Jennifer unlike Keaton's, is kinder to Matthew. She doesnt kill him right away. She only captures him for something later. And as Matthew cries. Telling Butler's Jennifer that he's "so sorry." Butler's Jennifer can only say 5 words, and you know what Matthew...
