Review of Day for Night (1973) by Amos B — 22 Jun 2007
Filmmaking within a film. It brought the audience a sense of what it would be like to be in the film industry. Shots were beautifully constructed, mis-en-scene cleverly deconstructed (the audience can see the whole set), interesting relations between characters.
Derivition of the title: La Nuit Américaine ('The American Night') is a technical process whereby sequences shot during the daytime are made to appear as if they are taking place at night. In the English-speaking world the film is known as Day for Night, which is the equivalent English expression.
