Review of Das Boot (1981) by Orlok N — 20 May 2008
Perhaps one of the best war movies ever made. This film focuses in on the psychological dynamic between the men on this U-Boat. They struggle to maintain their dignity and composure during crisis, they have no choice but to maintain silence even when they know that they ought to be screaming. I found myself feeling sympathetic toward this group of Nazi's.
This film is not packed with action, at times it stands still, as does life on a U-Boat, but it is filled with intense dramatic tension that will keep you staring at the screen waiting for the tension to break.
