This is an excellent movie. It makes other submarine movies look pathetic and implausible. Even though it is a long movie, the intensity keeps it going for 3 1/2 hours. Wolfgang Petrson made you feel like you were in a submarine. Be warned if you don't speak German you are going need the English subtitles. NOTE: Do not watch the English overdub version, since it completely alters a lot of lines, unlike the subtitles.
Overall, one of my all time favorite movies.
