Review of Das Boot (1981) by Tony L — 23 Feb 2009
'Das Boot' is my favorite war movie of all time. Wolfgang Peterson's signature work, he expertly captures every last ounce of sweat, tension and claustrophobia in this cramped, stinking tin can.
Although 3 1/2 hours long, the movie flows at just the right place throughout, never feeling too rushed or too bogged down at any point. We feel tremendous empathy for these young, naive German sailors who, although they were the enemy, were also human just like the rest of us.
