"Darkest Hour" offers a mostly one-sided story about ex Prime Minister Winston Churchill and tends to dramatize in excess his life during the early years of World War II, thus becoming a historical drama with mixed results in terms of narrative, although it benefits from unmatched make-up, some fine cinematography and one Oscar-worthy performance by Gary Oldman.
