Review of Darkest Hour (2017) by Marianne R — 04 Feb 2018
The acting is excellent, however they have taken a bit of true historic licence in the film. We alll know Churchill was willing to sacrifice our troops on the beaches, and that it was Ramsay who came up with the idea of using a floatilla of little boats.
Which is shown reversed in the film. Do these Writers, Directors and Producers not realise that many of us were told the true story by people who were there. Nice to see Calais and the supreme sacrifice by the force stationed there was mentioned.
The end credits state the war finished in May 1945, (incorrect), the War in Europe finished in May, the War as a whole finished in August 1945,(don't undermine our Burma struggle). Overall a good film, but why detract from the truth.
