Such a brilliant film in all it does - the dialogue, the framing device from director Joe Wright which shows just how much happened for Winston Churchill, in his early days as Prime Minister. If you are a history buff or a WWII buff, run out and see this film the moment you can.

Absolutely wonderful cinematography, and my god, the makeup and costumes. Which brings me to the performances. Ben Mendelsohn as King George VI, amazing performance, but our man Gary Oldman... Just, wow.

I still haven't seen what Daniel Day-Lewis has done with his performance this year, and as I've said, James Franco is also definitely tossed into the mix, but come on. Gary Oldman probably already had the Oscar shipped express to his home and he's waiting to reveal it.

I can't begin to explain how shocking it is that this man is without an Academy Award. The speeches he gives as Churchill, the intensity behind the voice, hell, even the smaller, quiet character moments blew me away.

Oldman just never ceases to amaze, and if ever there was a film for which he deserves all credit for his performance, this is it. Not taking away ANYTHING from what he has done in the past, this is just the transformation of a lifetime.
