Review of Dark Star (1974) by Liana S — 18 Jul 2010
This movie is completely dated (the role of the alien is played by a beach ball!), but it's still rad. I was especially keen on the whole 'to get the bomb to disengage, you need to talk to it about phenomenology' bit.
Embarrassingly, I didn't know it was a parody until I read the bit from All Movie Guide posted above--being aware of this makes me think about the film's hippie protagonists and its sometimes-ridiculous dialogue in a decidedly different light.
