Review of Dark Skies (2013) by Dan H — 07 Jun 2013
The film isn't really scary, but it sure is weird, atmospheric and creepy. Some parts would feel right at home in an episode of The Twilight Zone. These aliens are massive dicks, and most of what they do resemble hardcore pranks.
..almost like an episode of MTV's punk'd starring aliens. It's clear that these aliens aim is to tear this family apart using every trick they know...it's actually pretty brutal. The casting is spot on here.
I believed that these people were a real family, and I really dug the family dynamic found within this film. J.K Simmons also nails his regrettably small role here as well. If you're looking to be scared you will undoubtedly be disappointed but if you love the Twilight Zone or being creeped or weirded out then Dark Skies definitely fits the bill.
I really liked it, also: Keri Russell is fuckin HAWT.
