Review of Dark Shadows (2012) by D M — 15 Feb 2015
In the 1970s, a vampire returns to his families estate in a Maine fishing town after being buried for 200 years. He finds his family is no longer a local powerhouse and sets to restore their former glory only to be abated by a former lover, a witch from his former life.
I loved the off-beat tone and the visuals throughout, mixing the culture of the 1970s, with Gothic imagery with the grittiness of a fishing port. Directed by Tim Burton, actors include Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper and Christopher Lee all add up to make this one a pretty darn good comedy with vampires, witches, werewolves, and ghosts!
