Review of Dark Shadows (2012) by Frank S — 31 Aug 2013
I loved the movie for several reasons. The music was spot on both 70's and D. E.'s work, the actors played each role to my taste and in my opinion nailed it, the scenery and sets were awesome, just the right touch of unique words inplanted in the dialog, Alice Cooper was the perfect blend, PERFECT.
The story starts off with a great premise of blood defined into how forbidden love can bring evil, the detail of bringing Sir Christopher Lee was a pleasant surprise as well as the cameo of the original cast, Johnny Depp was not an actor I liked (until now) he really owns his characters and I am a fan today, Helena, Michelle, and Eva I enjoyed because they brought the roles up a notch with their style and especially their look in revision of the roles, didn't really like Tim Burton's prior work but I really enjoyed his twist here and was not expecting it, although the movie could have gone into a very dark direction like it originally did, it was a fresh direction that I really enjoyed.
I am not saying it should appeal to anyone, I am saying for some reason It really connected to me growing up in the 70's.
Just the music, scenery and actors alone are worth the view.
