Review of Dark Places (2015) by Ian P — 27 Aug 2015
Surviving alone from a family massacre as a child, Libby (Charlize Theron) suffered from that traumatic experience that affected her until she reach adult. Libby was force again to confront her traumatic past she referred as "Dark Places" when a member of a club that obsessively solve crimes contact her and convinces her to go back to the darkest place of her life in order to get peace of mind once and for all.
While others may find it boring for having so much dialogue, others will find it to have a hooking mystery story that would motivate you to finish it until the end which happen me to upon watching it.
The mystery theme of the story set an entertaining flick to watch. Though, I felt it need more thriller and tension scenes to make it an effective thriller flick and its highlighted revelation scene felt needing much more action and thrill.
I find Dark Places an entertaining mystery film. Charlize Theron is amazing in any role she portrays. In this film, Theron plays the lone massacre survivor turned kleptomaniac haunted woman. Dark Places is based on the novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn who also wrote the famed Gone Girl and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner.
