Review of Dante's Peak (1997) by Keenan S — 12 Aug 2013
Dante's Peak is implausible cheese, but it is damn good implausible cheese. There are many totally ludicrous moments (I never knew you could drive a truck through lava and have it come out it great condition!), but I had too much fun to really care.
The action segments are intense and thrilling, and they almost never let up. And, while the story itself is corny, the actors manage to turn out solid performances and keep a straight face through the whole story.
Dante's Peak is a disaster film that is more about action and style than it is about plot, but if you enjoy your disaster films like that, Dante's Peak offers plenty of ridiculous entertainment.
I came for a kick-ass disaster film and I got what I wanted, needless to say. I think this film is quite underrated.
