Inspired by an incident in the real life of British musician Steve Tilston, Danny Collins is the story of an aging rocker who finds himself re-evaluating his life choices after receiving a very belated letter from a musician he admired.

For forty years, Danny Collins (Al Pacino) has been living life as a rock star, but Dannyâ??s world is turned upside down when his longtime friend & manager, Frank Grubman (Christopher Plummer) gives him an undelivered letter written by John Lennon forty years earlier.

Danny, wondering what his life would have been like if he gotten that letter when he first started out as a performer, decides to make some serious changes & heads to New Jersey to redeem himself as a father to his son, Tom (Bobby Cannavale) & connect with Tom's wife, Samantha (Jennifer Garner) & granddaughter, Hope (Giselle Eisenberg).

Danny has taken up residence at the Hilton & is aggressively flirting with Mary (Annette Bening), the hotel manager, while he attempts to write some new songs. Making his directorial debut is Dan Fogelman who also wrote the screenplay which is accompanied by a John Lennon infused soundtrack.

The performances from the cast were superb & Al Pacino was very convincing as this aging singer. I liked how the potential romance between Danny & Mary wasnâ??t your conventional love story. So if you want to a see a heartfelt redemption story with an amazing soundtrack then SEE THIS FILM.
