Sure, it's formulaic. But it also stays clear of the unrealistically saccharine, has some genuinely moving moments, and the cast is fantastic. All in all, a good time at the movies. Sometimes you don't really need movies that blow you away; sometimes you just need to feel nice.
And this is perfectly nice.
