Review of Danny Collins (2015) by Jocey D — 11 Nov 2015
In Al Pacino's movie career, his recent films are either not doing well financially, or critically, making the fans wonder about whether he'll be in a good movie. Well to my surprise, Danny Collins is a great movie that Dan Fogelman did really well as both a director and writer.
Al Pacino is terrific as always, and the supporting cast are great in this too. The script is really good that has a good balance of putting in funny humor while having well effective drama in it. I enjoy the chemistry between Al Pacino and Annette Bening, I really think that they were really funny together and have some interesting conversations, which lead to a resolution that I think is very fitting for them.
You can just tell that Al Pacino's character is really trying to set his life back together with his family which you just want him to succeed at it. The movie has some moments that are predictable, and plot points that are just there to make the movie even longer.
I did really like Giselle Eisenberg at how she's portraying a kid that has a condition that people might find annoying, but she does it in a way that honestly did not annoy me at all, which I did she did a great job at it.
I honestly did think that Danny Collins was probably going to be a mediocre movie, but Dan Fogelman did such a great job at this that I need to stop underestimating him with this, Last Vegas, and The Guilt Trip.
