Review of Dangerous Worry Dolls (2008) by Allan C — 05 Jan 2017
Charles Band set a little late to the game to be making a women-in-prison film, even with his addition of horror elements. Not that the 1970s women-in-prison films were big budget affairs, but this film seemed cheap by even Charles Band/Full Moon Pictures standards.
The story here is a standard prison story of a good girl sent to prison for a minor offense and then wishing on some South American worry dolls to help her with the evil guards, prison warden, and other prisoners.
From their, the dolls crawl into her ear at night and possess her with powers to exact her revenge. Band seems to love movies about deadly little creatures (i.e. Puppet Master, Demonic Toys, Dolls, Dollman, Shrunken Heads, etc.
), but this film seemed nowhere as enjoyable as those. Not recommended for even Full Moon Pictures fans, even for the Richard Band theme music or for the enjoyable cheesy special effects (which there were not enough of).
