I cannot deny that this film was well made (not spectacular, but scenes such as Glenn Close's reflection in the mirrors resembling her imprisonment in her life, or the way the putting on of costumes and masks at the film's opening contrasted the taking off of Close's make-up-and her lies and carefully constructed life-in the end).

But beside the rather well performed piece (again, I mention the concluding scenes) I felt myself asking why the film was made in the first place. There was little for me to grasp onto and engage, either as entertainment or from the aspect of novice critic.
