Has to be one of the greatest movies of all time. Deliciously salacious and contains one of my favourite quotes -.

Valmont:I want the excitement of watching her betray everything that is most important to her... I thought betrayal was your favourite word.

Merteuil:No, no, cruelty. I always think that has a nobler ring to it.

Those two are the stars of the show - they are evil personified, but the brilliant acting done by John Malkovich and Glenn Close really pulls you in, and you're immediately (well, I was) sympathising with the characters, and there's something romantic about how beautifully empty the lives of these aristocrats are. Every time these two appear onscreen, you just can't help but be glued to their faces, and the nuances in their expressions.

One of my favourite scenes is when the Madame realises that the Vicomte has fallen for Madame de Tourvel, and as the realisation dawns on her face, you go through each of her emotions - realisation, anger, contempt.

Brillaint. Which is why I gave it 5 stars.
