Review of Dangerous Beauty (1998) by Bellouise R — 13 Jun 2008
This film - and George Fenton's fabulous score - changed my life in 1998. I'd gone through some devastating losses and had lost myself in a soul-numbing depression. This film rejuvenated my spirit & reminded me of what a feisty, creative, sexy, independent, passionate and courageous woman I really am.
It inspired me in so many ways that I felt compelled to write its composer to share how his music had affected me. 2 years later, God opened doors for me to move to LA to assist a composer & work in the film music industry.
5 years after seeing DB, I met George Fenton in person and told him the rest of my story. Besides gorgeous music, this film has wonderful cinematography, sumptious settings, golden candlelight, beautiful costumes, handsome actors with believable chemistry, flirty repartee, poetry, sex, war, romance, the plague, swordfighting, sacrifice and more - all set in 16th century Renaissance Venice.
This film may not be appreciated by everyone but for those who are hopeless romantics, it will be loved.
