Review of Danger Close (2017) by Monicasummery — 23 May 2017
Danger Close is a documentary about valor and heroism, and I couldn’t get enough. Watching this film filled me with even more respect for the men and women that risk their lives on a daily basis to protect our country.
War reporter Alex Quade honors the life of fallen soldier Rob Pirelli by travelling to the combat outpost that he helped build. Although the family members are unable to see his accomplishment in person, Quade uses her unprecedented access as a reporter and risks her life to send footage of it to his family.
The most gratifying part of the film is watching Pirelli’s family members see his outpost for the first time; their awe and pride intermingled with melancholy. This film truly represents how Pirelli was respected and admired, and how much he will be missed.
This documentary stretches this respect towards all soldiers and veterans in a tasteful and significant way.
