Review of Dancing Lady (1933) by Private U — 04 May 2008
I thought the plot could have been a little better; but, overall it is a good film and the cast is put together nicely. Since it is Fred Astaire and Clark Gable's first films, I "cut it some slack" for some of the overly dramatized scenes.
[I.e. the part when the audience finds out that the rich boy toy sabotages the show diliberately.] Joan Crawford is generally the main focus of this film, a pioneer who had to fight for better roles and scripts like Bette Davis.
Her delivery of the "wanna-be" show star sort of resembles some her real life situations [not all.] I really enjoyed the comedy routine by the Stooges as well.
