Review of Dancer in the Dark (2000) by Jordan W — 20 Nov 2011
Feeling my heart being torn, this hits my weakest link, I cant help being furious about people acting like Selma, just too sad, I cant bear with this, she somehow recall my traumatic memories and also warn me of my weakness, thats why I double hate this kind of people. Make me feel so shit, and there are the people not knowing the truth, it is another big NO to me! The truth must be revealed! Oh f it!
Ok, putting aside my emtions, it is really a great piece, from every little detail possible. probably I was watching DVD with the director commenting throughout the film. I tend not to look at it but it really says how a scene is made and how they thought ver it. really tough work! and of course the two biggest personalities Bjork vs. Lars, the filming must be hell. Yet Bjork is amazing in play this role. She is jsut this type. She is Selma, I am not sure she is the Meyl Streep type of actress or artist, but she just embodies Selma in her. And I LOVE Catherine Devoue! She acts and looks captivating at every age! Of course the other cast also work so well togther. The music is definitely unique and I love how fresh it looks, nothing HSM or Enchanted. Esp. the angles, they had 100+ cameras for each musical scene ! Really like Lars von Trier, so assured, but also conceited of course, so many irony in his comment.
