Review of Dancer in the Dark (2000) by Crystal S — 23 Sep 2009
I am probably not qualified to review this movie since I couldn't finish watching it. It was just so damn depressing. I feared that if I watched one more moment I just might kill myself. That must mean the acting was good, right? These people have some real issues that I didn't want to see.
The musical part confused me. It just seemed so out of nowhere. One minute we were put me out of my misery, the next it was dancing and singing. Not to say the singing wasn't good. It was. Or that the dancing wasn't beautiful.
It was. I particularly liked the scene when the lumberjacks were dancing on the train and the sky and clouds were behind them. Quite stunning. There was something beautiful about this character. A sweetness, but I really didn't want to see her life go down the tubes.
It was just too damn sad.
