Review of Dancer in the Dark (2000) by Andremax — 18 Nov 2018
I don't even like musicals, but Dancer in the dark brokes paradigms inside this genre. Although nauseating and near-amateur photography which understandable but hardly acceptable, Trier magistrally brokes poetic justic and brings a concret expression of nihilism and uses musical parts as a protagonist's escapist resource from her disgraces instead of simply vomit it randomically in watcher's face.
DITD is involvent, intriguing and well calculated.
