Review of Dancer in the Dark (2000) by Walter C — 02 Feb 2011
Bjork does a great job in the lead role of a woman who is saving money so that her son can escape the family disease that leads to blindness. While she's at work she day dreams that she is in a musical.
The movie is slow in the beginning, taking it's time to establish characters and then it gets dark and stays that way. The musical numbers are silly to watch and not very well done with the camera being too close to the action most of the time.
It's a depressing movie but, I think it's worth watching for Bjork's performance.
