Review of Damned in the U.S.A. (1992) by Gordon T — 22 Sep 2011
Another "forgotten" documentary . . . "Censorship in America" featuring arguments over PISS CHRIST . . .
Piss Christ is a painting of a crucifix submerged in urine.
Its "designed" to get a rise out of people at to say that The Catholic Church is full of shit--relying on symbols and statues.
For me "Piss Christ" should not be banned because it represents, for me, a test of faith. My faith in Jesus goes much deeper than seeing a stature of Christ in urine.
--beside the artist is expressing his feelings; all feelings are expressible as long as they aren't targeted to hurt or kill another person.
"Piss Christ" isn't aiming to hurt an individual.
YOU SEE (understand)? . . . Damned in the USA is a good documentary; it makes the viewer think deeply about things.
