FREAKING GROSS!!!! bad gore effects and so-so hardcore sex scenes .
Caligula rams his fist into a groom before the groom gets married. really gross.
And for a Christian torture sequence, a giant machine sweeps across a Colosseum floor cutting the heads off Christians . . . . the effects are (again) terrible.
The Guy at Mel's Pharmacy wouldn't let me rent this one either (in 1983). . . a buddy of mine loaned me a bootleg of it in 1988.
