Review of Damien - Omen II (1978) by Joel D — 08 Nov 2010
The Biggest problem with the sequel to the Omen is that the daeths are moved up to the top of the plot making the rest of the film a bit murky and ultimately unsatisfying.
It was a good idea to focus on the teenage Damien and Jonathan Scott Taylor is very good in the role in fact the whole cast is fine.
Whats wrong is that the deaths are gorier and more flashy than the orginals class act.
Its like the writers became fed up with focusing the story and concentrated on folks getting chopped in half,Gassed,Killed By trains and Trucks which is all vey well but after a while you become some bored by all the exposistion that the deaths sort of pass you by.
It probably didnt help that orgianl director Mike Hodges was replaced during filming with Don Taylor which probably goes a long way to expelining why the sequel is very up and down.
