There are two things that bothered me about this film. The first being that I am not familiar with H.P Lovecraft's writings. I don't really know anything about the whole Cthulhu mythos. Although this film doesn't mention it once, the iconography is very similar. Over all, it didn't effect my viewing that much, just that I will now have to go do some research. There isn't much of an explanation. My second issue is with the language. It's done in English, Spanish and then some weird squeals and garbles of the mutated squid people. Some of the dialogue was very hard to understand, and in the end sequence where alot of questions are answered, literally by the head honcho squid guy, it was mostly unintelligible. The special effects are pretty well done, as well as the gore, which there is very little of. One thing I did really enjoy is the storyboard art in the special features on the DVD. Definitely check that out.

Overall, the film had a made for TV vibe, but was entertaining. Not particularly scary, though great if your a Lovecraft or Stuart Gordon fan.
