Review of Dagon (2001) by Sylvain N — 10 Apr 2009
It makes me smile a tiny bit I guess...Ive been in a Lovecraft mood of late, so that helps, but only so far.
The best scene is when the villagers are comming to get the lead, and he unscrews the door lock on the bathroom door to put it on the door to his room, fumbling and dropping it, cursing himself, only to finally get it on just in time, and then the villagers break it down almost immediately.
This is roughly an hour and a half of running around in the rain, while people with severe limps and walking impairments shamble around screeching, and ocassionaly someone forgets to zip up their tattered rags all the way, and out pops a tentical.
It does seem like Stuart Gordon had a good time with this, but it boaderlines parody and then goes over the line one too many times, the little boy crying after his father is knocked out in the house full of water, bieng case and point. Dagon must be rolling over in his under sea dream/grave.
