Review of Dagon (2001) by Thomas L — 31 Mar 2013
For about the first hour I was so bewildered by this movie that I didn't yet know how I felt about it, but at the end of the day I had to push for a recommendation. Though I'm fairly certain that the vast majority of this film passes for comedy.
. there are some scenes of grotesque violence such as (but not limited to) a face being peeled off in graphic up close and personal detail that the horror of the whole ordeal sort of settles in by the finale.
The acting is choppy at best, but hey it's a Stuart Gordon picture. The fish people of the story are not at all scary, there more like pitiful hapless land guppies than monsters, but that is not to say that they aren't convincing.
It's worth a look.
